How to Get Massive Myspace Traffic - Part 3

We’re now going to go and customize my My Space page. Remember we’ve not added really anything very much at all at the moment, so let’s just work down. On this left-hand side we’re just going to go down here. I’m going to show you what you’ll need to do there.

So let’s go and edit profile. Now what you’ll get here when you first come in is a series of blank boxes, all different fields, About Me, I’d like to meet, Your interests, Music, etc. These are all blank.

Now what I’ve done, just to give you an example, I’ve just put in some text. “I started out life as a caterpillar and became a blah blah blah.” Now in any of these boxes, as it says here, you can enter HTML or dynamic HTML or CSS or any text field. You’re not allowed java script, but you can use HTML. So you can put pretty much anything in here.

Now if you overdo it with adverts and links etc, then your account will get closed. As I said, I’m going to close this account anyway but I’m just doing this to show you what you could do, but you need to balance this out.

In About Me, just put your life story basically, your life story or whatever it is, or something that’s going to have those things that I said in it before. Remember the 4 H’s. You’ve got to have the heartfelt nature to it. You’ve got to have the human side to the story. You’ve got to include humor, and you’ve got to be helpful in the information that you give.

So you just put text in here. “This is my story” or whatever it is in there. You can then move down to the next page and click “Preview here” if you want to preview it, and just work your way down.

As you’ll see here you’re able to put links in, so if you want to put a link in a particular section you just use this code. You can get this code, by the way, if you’re not sure of this just go to www.Google.com and type ‘HTML code’ or ‘HTML tutorial.’ You’ll find all this basic stuff and you can put in a link in each of these sections.

So let’s just say we’ve done that. We’ve gone through. We click on ‘Save all changes,’ and then what happens is this is what your profile then appears like. So this is my live profile, the public facing profile. So you can see we’re starting to add a little bit more.

We’ve added this About Me thing. We’ve added a link here, if you hop over that it’ll take you to the website of your choice if you want to get people more information, and a link here.

The other information, remember the Interests, that’s appeared down this side. Again we’ve got links that we’ve included so you can send people off and say, “Look, I’m interested in this particular type of area. Here’s my site. Go and check it out for information,” so each of these can be sending people off to your website.

I mean you’ve got to be careful with it. You can’t be a total traffic funnel commercial marketing nonsense. You’ve got to balance it out with the personal stuff and the real stuff, but you can use My Space to get a lot of traffic.

Now this list thing, this is just to show you another illustration of how you can actually use My Space. You can get a bit of code from your autoresponder, which I’ve gone through in another video, where you can actually place this code into your My Space and actually start building a list.

Now I’ve put there ‘Join my list.’ If you just say that you’re not going to get anybody joining your list. You’ve got to be helpful, as I’ve said. So if you have a bit of a story and say, “Look, I started out life. This is what I was doing.” Let’s just say you’re selling information on how to play better golf.

You could say, “Look, I played really bad golf and I read this book and now I’m a really good golfer. If you want me to tell you my full story, I’ll give you some free golf tips and information. Fill in the details here and I’ll give you a free ebook on golf.”

That is going to work really well because you’ve been helpful, you’ve been honest, it’s a human story, and it enables you to build a list using My Space, but it’s all about balance. You can’t totally overdo it.

So the first stage is kind of personalizing your profile and starting to get some traffic coming through.

Let’s just go back to the main page. We’ve edited our profile, our interests, and our personality. Let’s now move on to the next section.

We’ll go now onto Add Edit Photos. Just click on here. You can go in here and you can add a photo of your actual main profile, but you can also add many photos to your profile. So let’s just go and do that.

I’m just going to go and browse now. I’m going to go and upload some photos. So I’ve now updated some photos. You can keep uploading as many as you want here. I’ve just uploaded one that I’m going to use from my main profile.

So those are some pictures. What you can now do is set one of these as a default image, and I’m going to choose this one, so that’s now going to be my default image for my profile. It’s going to appear on the top left of my particular profile.

As I can say, you can add a lot more photos down here. You can add captions to them and so on. The main point I’m trying to get across here is do add photos. All this is going to help personalize your My Space page, make you more unique, help people to get to know you better, etc.

Now what you can also do, and this is pretty common and very popular, is to add a slide show to your profile. What a slide show does is, as the name suggests, it puts something on your profile like this and has a series of images that just rotate from right to left, and enables people to get to know you very quickly because you can put a lot of photos about different things you’ve done in your life on the page.

So let’s just go for that. We’ll say ‘click here.’ Then you just follow the steps, as it says. You pick a slide show style that you like, whether it’s the large one or the smaller one. I particularly prefer this one to be honest, rather than this one. It makes me look less ugly when I’m smaller.

So you just grab the code here, highlight it, copy, and then you go back to your profile. Remember from the profile page it said you could post the HTML code anywhere. Go back in here, edit profile. So let’s just stick it in here. Let’s just say we’ll have it after the “paste” so we paste the code in, save all changes, and now we’ll go and look at what it actually looks like live online.

Relocating One’s Existing Website to a New Host

There are several users who got their own website but they are having problems from their hosting providers such as lack of proper service, quite expensive features, and running out of business. In such crises user needs to transfer his/her website to a new host, but the question arises how? This is a common problem prevailing everywhere but users donâ??t know from where to start. This guide will help the user how to transfer from one host to another as soon as possible.

Step No.1

For the new hosting provider a userâ??s should know what to transfer so that user can determine his/her requirements. For these questions oneâ??s should consult his/her website designer or current hosting provider.

Some hosting providers are recommending a shopping cart for their customers only.

Still there are some questions like -

What is the storage space of a userâ??s website take up?

What is the bandwidth of a userâ??s website for every month?

User should check whether he/she wants special requirements like receiving delivery receipts for e-mail or not?

If a user is having all the informations then he/she is in good form.Key of success will be in possessing a good record and preparation for anything.

Step No.2: A Host for oneâ??s Needs

Now a user wants someone to handle it. So he/she should go through the companies, check their packages and should contact them to assist in moving his/her website. A good host is one who not only supports him/her on his servers but also help him/her to run it.

If a host runs a different server than oneâ??s old host find out will it affect his/her setup like setting of e-mail, website control panel, or user can get new options or lose some of it.

Step No.3: Setting up of new before the old one

If one cancel his/her services with his old host he/her should aware that his/her new setup is running to his/her satisfaction. Because there can be problems related to services like broken website and e-mail services. The best is one who leaves his/her old host active up until the activation of the new hostâ??s DNS, as well as fully configured and operational websites waiting for it when the domain is repointed. By this a new smoothest possible transition will be there from one host to another.

Now one can access his/her site prior to changing the DNS on his/her domain name. One can access his/her control panel to upload files, and perform all the operations necessary to recreate his/her website and e-mail accounts on the new hostâ??s server.

Step 5: Replacing oneâ??s Domain Names

One should have all his/her files transferred, his/her e-mail accounts set up, installation of

Shopping cart, etc on the hostâ??s server. However one is still being hosted by his/her old provider. Here it is the right time to apply the details of domain management mentioned in step no 1. First of all user needs to locate the names of new hostâ??s Domain Name Server (DNS). At least two are recommended:

Name server 1. ONEâ??SHOST .COM

Name server 2. ONEâ??S HOST.COM

One requires accessing this information in the DNS sector of his/her domain manager for every domain that user desires to repoint to the new host. If user is placing several domain on the same site he/she should ensure that the concern hostâ??s DNS can take care of all the domain not only of that with which user kept the hosting account.
